TEN was founded in 1993 to provide an identity and voice for gays and lesbians living in the suburban communities east of Seattle. TEN has become an increasingly visible organization. TEN's membership has remained extremely diverse and includes a well-balanced mixture of men and women of all ages, numerous gay and lesbian parents, as well as supportive members of the heterosexual community. As of March 20, 1997 TEN became officially recognized by the IRS as a non-profit, tax-exempt educational organization. This represents a significant milestone in TEN's history. The new status helps bring into focus TEN's primary goal of educating the public and its members on issues of concern to the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgendered community. It also allows TEN to pursue additional funding sources such as grants, charitable donations, and corporate gift-matching funds. TEN is now poised to grow into a larger and more visible organization on the Eastside; one that can have an enormous influence in fostering tolerance and diversity among our neighbors. We encourage you to browse through our web site to see what's happening at TEN in the upcoming months. Please join us at our next monthly meet 'n' greet or email one of our board members if you have any questions. Thanks for visiting our site! |
